KELLIE BURGESS, Executive Director of The Music Academy of North Carolina, received her Master and Bachelor of Music degrees in cello performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Before transitioning to her current role, Kellie held the position of Dean of Faculty; chaired the String and Early Childhood departments; and was the Artistic Director for The Music Academy of NC Cello, Violin, and Viola Competition. Trained in Musikgarten, Kindermusik, Orff, and Suzuki cello, Kellie enjoys teaching students of all ages and abilities. In addition to twenty years of experience teaching cello, she has extensive experience teaching early childhood music, exceptional children, beginner violin, and was the curriculum writer and teacher for EMF Kids Camp from its first year through 2011. Kellie is a Music Academy Master Teacher, the recipient of a 1997 Teaching Excellence Award, and a 2002 Merit and Service Award. She is an active freelance artist in the Piedmont and Triad area.
LAURA HOLLEY, Director of Advancement at The Music Academy of North Carolina, received her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from Peabody Institute of Music and her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from University of Southern Mississippi, with highest honors. Laura joined the piano faculty in 1993 and received Faculty Merit and Service Awards in 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, and 2004. After transitioning to a staff position in 2001, Laura has served as Director of Program Development, Director of Development, Associate Director, and Executive Director. A graduate of the American Express Nonprofit Leadership Academy and the Guilford Nonprofit Consortium Executive Director Academy, Laura currently serves on the Steering Committee of the Guilford Nonprofit Consortium. As Director of Advancement at The Music Academy, Laura oversees strategic partnerships and sustainable funding activities.
