He has managed traditional and digital advertising campaigns, led public relations and crisis communications efforts, and run social media training and strategy programs. Prior to RLF, Mark, an award-winning journalist, was a senior reporter for The Business Journal of the Triad and a staff writer at the Greensboro News & Record. He worked as a freelance writer and consultant, writing for The New York Times, Wired News and a variety of local and state publications. He also handled public relations and marketing projects for the UNC-Chapel Hill Kenan-Flagler Business School, the Durham Arts Council and GTE (now Verizon), among other clients. Mark has served as communications director for the Southern Growth Policies Board, an economic development think tank, where he was responsible for all marketing, publications, online communications and media relations across 13 states. He started his professional career at The Herald-Sun in Durham, N.C., where he was a copy editor, reporter and business editor Mark has an MBA from Elon University and a bachelor's degree in English from N.C. State University, where he was editor of the award-winning student newspaper. He is married with two daughters, two cats and several fish.
